BizCover’s sales team clean up at IB’s Rising Star Awards

BizCover’s sales team has cleaned up at Insurance Business’ Rising Stars 2022 award, with two team leaders being recognised in the coveted list.

Sales Team Leader Clare McParland and Customer Value Team Leader Binith Gyawali joined 43 rising superstars – all 35 or younger – who were nominated by their colleagues or managers for demonstrating excellence in the field.

“I couldn’t be prouder of my team. Binith and Clare both instil the Customer Fanatic value BizCover is known for, going above and beyond to help small businesses arrange their insurance,” says BizCover’s Sales Team Manager Daniel Quinn – a previous winner of the award in 2019 under its old name, Young Guns.

The results reflect the insurance technology platform’s customer-centric approach to servicing more than 180,000 small businesses across Australia.

“Clare and Binith were a beacon of light amid a difficult year filled with natural disasters and adverse market conditions, helping our sales team achieve an incredibly high NPS score of +80 for the year, which is well above the industry average.”

Introducing Rising Star Clare McParland

After assuming her current role as Team Leader in 2020, Clare McParland’s team has been at the top in terms of customer satisfaction, quality and performance in the business, regularly overachieving on their goals each month, as well as strong year-on-year growth.

Over the past year, Clare has maintained a culturally diverse sales team with less than a 10% attrition rate – an extremely positive result given the current market conditions. She has personally developed, coached, and mentored her team, resulting in one of her sales consultants being promoted to Team Leaders.

“Outside her primary role, Clare is always looking for opportunities to improve processes that aid the broader sales team,” says Daniel Quinn. “Clare has an infectious motivation to excel, which in turn elevates not just the team she leads but her peers around her to work to push for higher standards.”

“I’m delighted to even be nominated for the award. It’s so rewarding to be recognised for the hard work my team and I have put in over the last few years,” says Clare.

“The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand and determination that whether win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.”

Introducing Rising Star Binith Gyawali

Overseeing BizCover’s customer value department, Binith has overcome many trials with his team throughout a challenging financial year.

Binith motivates his team to overachieve through his personable and empathetic approach to leadership.

“Binith is passionate in providing a depth of support for his team, thrives in celebrating their achievements, and takes pride in their development,” says Daniel Quinn. “He is an effective communicator who is not afraid to take on the big challenges to seek innovative solutions that deliver the best possible outcomes for our customers and, in turn, the business.”

A determined and highly competent leader, Binith is of great value to BizCover and carries the respect of his team and peers. In a challenging renewal market, he has confidently coached and developed his team to be one of the highest-performing in operations.

In June this year, Binith’s team reached a new milestone for direct renewals – a feat no team has matched or bettered ever since. Binith consistently inspires his team to continue to break company records and fosters a culture that embodies the company’s values.

“I remember 13 years ago, when I arrived in Australia, I was struggling to find a job because English was my second language, and I wasn’t able to speak fluent English,” Binith said.

“Fast forward to now, and I’ve been named an Insurance Business Rising Star. Even to just be nominated by my manager and business meant that I had already won regardless of the result.”

A winning formula

With Clare and Binith both making the Rising Star list, the announcement marks the third time this year a BizCover employee has been recognised individually after Jane Mason was named a winner of the Elite Women 2022 Award.

The Sydney-based Insurtech frequently features among top industry lists, including winning the 5-Star Technology Award and the 5-Star Insurance Innovator Award.

Regularly smashing the industry NPS benchmark due to its customer-fanatic sales team and cutting-edge technology, BizCover has also been recognised as one of the insurance industry’s Top Employers.
