Jobs Shared wins the latest BizGiver Grant

THE LATEST WINNER OF BIZGIVER $2000 GRANT HAS BEEN NAMED AS JOBS SHARED, THE INNOVATIVE NEW JOB SHARING EMPLOYMENT SERVICE.

IMG_4086_eAfter Simone McLaughlin had her first child, she discovered how difficult it was to find quality work that was flexible enough to fit in her new role as a parent.

She also discovered that she wasn’t alone, finding a large untapped market of parents wanting to return to their careers, but requiring flexibility to look after their children.

Jobs Shared was then born, an online platform designed to help people find a job share partner or find jobs available for job share teams.

“I love that I’m doing something that can have a really positive impact on people’s lives,” states McLaughlin.

“Helping people stay in their careers after having children I hope will eventually see more women in senior positions, creating a more equal workplace.”

This innovative model impressed the judging panel at BizCover, granting Jobs Shared a finalist spot in their BizGiver competition for December.

BizGiver is a small business grant that awards the wish of a small business of up to $2000 value; the wish simply needs to an item or service that will help their business.

“We want to honour that Aussie entrepreunership that so often gets overlooked at the early stages and a grant like this can really be the boost they need to allow their business to take a step up to the next level,” explains Michael Gottlieb, co-founder and Managing Director of BizCover, “we have customers in nearly every type of business across Australia, it’s inspiring to see these truly unique businesses like Jobs Shared reach success.”

BizCover, Australia’s leading online business insurance service, started the grant as a way to give back to the small business community.

For Jobs Shared, winning this grant will mean some much needed advertising to launch the business into new markets.

“As a start-up, all costs basically come out of our savings, so this prize means I can finally afford [this],” enthuses McLaughlin.

“One of our biggest challenges is educating job seekers and employers about the benefits of job sharing, helping them to see how beneficial it can be when implemented properly.”

A wish will be granted by Bizcover.com.au bi-monthly in the form of a specific product or service valued at up to $2000. Businesses must have a valid ABN to apply but don’t need to be an existing BizCover customer to enter.

Wishes can be submitted online via www.smallbusinessbuddy.com.au.
