Small Business Resolutions for 2017

Small Business Resolutions for 2017

The New Year is a great time to take stock of both your personal life and business life and set some goals to set you up for success throughout the year. Even the process setting of goals for the year can go a long way to focusing your business in the right direction. And if you haven’t set your goals for 2017 it’s not too late.

If you are looking for a bit of inspiration, we recently asked a number of Small Business owners about their 2017 resolutions. Most of the responses, focussed on building the business on areas like planning/organisation, growth & investment or cost cutting.

Here are just some of the answers below which may help you set your goals*:

“2017 will be THE year to start taking time to plan our goals and celebrate our successes”

“My resolution is to keep my receipts in order, it’s always a mad rush for me tax time to gather them all together. Crazy but I tend to do it every year.”

2. Growth & Investment

“My goal is to open a second business”

“My goal is invest in myself, in additional business training”

“My youngest goes to school this year. My resolution for 2017 is to keep trying new things and for me that’s trying markets.”

“My resolution is to spend some time on advertising and marketing. It can make a real difference!”

“I’m still in the early stages with my business, but this year I plan to be working more extensively with developing more prototypes, looking into getting a patent and working alongside a company (I already have a contract with them) with my research and development grants. Hopefully this is the year all my hard work pays off!”

“Our resolution for the new year to grow our new venture”

“Start putting money in to my business and make my products look more professional.”

3. Cost cutting

“My small business resolution; set new goals and trim the fat.”

“My resolution is to cut the big cost of paying a baker to make all my cakes and biscuits. This year I will do the baking myself and see if I can cost cut and then create new exciting edible delights.”

But your goals don’t all need to be about your business – perhaps you simply want to give back to others!

“This year I’ve pledge to give back! I am going to donate a percentage of sales every month for a charity I love and adore.”
