After working 22 years in the car industry, Mansel Milne made the jump to the wine industry and started the online wine delivery company Cheaper Buy The Dozen.
In its first four years, Mansel and his team have grown the site to be one of the top major online wine companies in Australia.
“We now have a dedicated small team of people who work to strive and achieve the same goals as we have,” explains Milne.
Cheaper Buy The Dozen sells an exclusive range of local South Australian wines as well as award-winning wines from across Australia, delivering online orders directly to customers’ door.
“Previously, I spent 22 years in the car industry and had a friend who dealt in the Bulk wine industry and was paid in bottle stock.”
It was this friend’s business model that inspired the beginnings of Mansel’s new venture.
“We believe we have come up with right formula that will offer everything from heavily discounted wines right through to great deals for discerning drinkers who enjoy top of the range boutique wines.”
And the best part of this new venture?
“Going to work every day and knowing that I only have to answer to myself,” says Mansel. “Our business has increased by more than 22% in the last 12 months.”
Mansel attributes this growth in large part to their focus on customer service, and insistence on high-quality products.
“We only sell wines that we would drink ourselves,” enthuses Mansel. “We taste every bottle that we sell, and we’ll only put forward those which we feel are outstanding to drink and outstanding value, which is in line with our philosophy of providing quality wines at fantastic prices.”
