We don’t mean to brag but…
Sick of the long-winded and overly complex process of getting small business insurance, our founders (small business owners themselves) set out to change things once and for all.
That change was BizCover.
Determined to give small businesses a fair go, we created a straightforward and memorable insurance experience (for all the right reasons) by cutting out the time-consuming paperwork, poor customer service and lack of transparency small business’ were often faced with when getting there insurance. BizCover was FINALLY an insurance platform that was actually ‘insurance made easy’.
And if that wasn’t enough to shake up the market, we were the first online platform for customers to compare, shop and save on for their small business insurance needs. Customers were now able to compare from leading insurers in the click of a button, something which fiercely revolutionised the insurance industry.
From that first contact with the sales team to the processing of a claim, we’ve been committed to giving small businesses an all-around better deal, helping make us become the success that we are today.
Since we first opened our online doors back in 2008, we have received a whopping 2 million quote requests through our site. That’s a lot of small business insurance!
We may have been born in Australia, but we quickly grew our international wings! Spotting opportunities abroad, we expanded the family across the Tasman growing the BizCover tribe to include our Kiwi family in New Zealand and even further afield in the United States with BizInsure.
Over the past ten years, we have mastered the art of packing (and unpacking)! Our first home in 2008 was a cosy little office in Edgecliff running on a powerhouse team of 3. All of who are still with the company.
Next was a jump across the street, still in Edgecliff to a slightly larger office of 25m2, and a quickly multiplying to a team of 25.
In 2015 we changed postcodes and moved into brand new offices in sunny
Surry Hills. In just the three years that we called 260 Elizabeth Street home, we saw tremendous growth as the BizCover population grew to just over 100 employees. As the teams expanded, so did the need for more space, and what was once a roomy office soon became a daily game of desk tetris. It was time to pull out those boxes again.
And so came the grand move to Pitt Street in April 2018. With room to grow, table tennis to play and an endless supply of surrounding restaurants and cafes to choose from, we have all grown very fond of our new home!

We care about what our customers do for a crust, and that’s why we have put in the hard yards to grow our offerings to small businesses. Whether you’re a butcher, a baker or even a candlestick maker, we are always looking to grow and find new ways in which SME’s can take advantage of our insurance products and experience.
– We’re lucky to work with and have the support of our 7 insurance providers. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to offer the competitive and comprehensive suite of products that we do.
Our fast-paced growth of BizCover over the last few years has meant that every day is an exciting one. It’s also given us the excitement of being named in the Deloitte Tech Fast Awards. Australia Fast 50, 2012, 2013, 2017 and Asia Fast500, 2012 2013 2014 2016 2017.
The average talk time we spent with our customer calls during 2017. Over the year this quickly added up to 63,274 hours of conversation which can be broken down into 2,636 days or 7.2years, that’s a lot of talking!!
In a blink of an eye, we have grown from 3 to over 120. Through lots of hard work, innovation and the tenacity to stand out from the crowd, BizCover is only going to keep getting bigger and better. The future is bright, exciting and full of opportunities for us to continue to make our mark on the industry. Watch this space.
