Customer Spotlight: Sunshine Confectionery Outlet

Customer Spotlight: Sunshine Confectionery Outlet

To celebrate World Chocolate Day, we’re taking a look at one of our customers who’s in the business of appealing to our sweet tooth, Sunshine Confectionery Outlet.

Boasting the largest array of confectionery on the Sunshine Coast, one that would cause even Willy Wonka to rethink his business model, Stuart and Denise Mulholland started their business to provide a product and service they thought could be done better.

After years of working in the hospitality industry, their combined experience of working as chefs, restauranteurs and catering managers gave Stuart and Denise the necessary preparation to pursue their passion full-time. Like true entrepreneurs, they identified a gap in the market – an opportunity to provide the people of the Sunshine Coast top-quality chocolate and sweets that aren’t normally found in big retailers. In the same stroke, they wanted to be able to deliver these same products in bulk quantities, suitable for weddings, sporting events, parties, corporate events and other special occasions.

Having expanded since they started the business, Sunshine Confectionery has made their range of chocolate and sweets available to purchase online, as well as offering delivery Australia wide. They have received rave reviews on their Facebook page in the process.

“Received my parcel only 2 days after I placed my order and was delighted to have an extra chocolate bar and nice little thank you note,” said one overjoyed customer.

“Great service Denise and the team at Sunshine Confectionery, highly recommended for anyone with a sweet tooth.”

Stuart and Denise clearly exude a passion for what they do, admitting that their favourite thing about the job is meeting and getting to know their customers, bonding over a shared love of all things lollies and chocolate. Part of the love of the job also comes from a “rediscovering of the lollies you loved as a child, allowing you to take a trip down memory lane” as Stuart and Denise poetically put it.

When asked what sage advice they would give to other aspiring business owners, they had this to share:

“Plan the operations of your business, gaining experience is a costly exercise, particularly in time.” And finally, “seek advice from a business coach prior to commencement.”

Sunshine Coast locals, you’re in luck, because to celebrate World Chocolate Day, Stuart and Denise will be giving every customer a free Freddo on the day!
