3 Business Marketing Strategies That Create Sales

Written by Nicole Jones

In the world of business, it’s very easy to find yourself spending a lot of marketing money for not a lot of return. Sadly, some people over-promote marketing strategies that frankly have a shelf life in terms of their likelihood to work and their earning potential.

However, it’s very easy to find yourself caught up in the hype and making poor business decisions that don’t pay off. To help you make your marketing budget spread a little further and see positive results, here is a list of three successful marketing strategies that we have and continue to use in 2018.

1. Referrals: Use Power of Word-Of-Mouth

Word of mouth has always been a huge pay off for us. The stats show that people who are referred to you by someone, are more likely to engage you because personal recommendations have far more weight than any bit of marketing. Whether this is by getting people to pass your name on in return for a discount through to standard word of mouth marketing, you can find that referrals often produce some of the best ways for you to get the word out about what you do, without an outlay.

Many times our referrals have been organic, when someone is asking around in a conversation or on social media for someone to help with marketing tasks, we are first on their list of recommendations. If they have a positive experience, you will have no trouble being referred!

2. Education: a Powerful Content Marketing Strategy

Education is a massive strategy for us. In my first few years of business, I decided to run some free webinars to educate people on how to use Facebook. I ran them monthly for about 18 months and we had 94 people on one webinar. I have done other topics at other times, but each time I end up with enquiries and new clients.

It’s a great way of giving value and giving potential clients the opportunity to get an indication of how you work, and whether they want to work with you. People want value from businesses today and if you can give them that value, it will be you they turn to when they need assistance.
You might be wondering why you would give your knowledge away to a bunch of people who could run off and use it and not book you? While there will always be some who will be able to take bits of what you’ve shared away and put to work, most people end up seeing the value in what you are teaching them but don’t have the time or headspace to put into action themselves.

The beauty of our longer workshops is that we charge for them, so we are making money while we educate & market ourselves in the process. Making money while we market! When you engage with a business on an empowerment and/or education level, you are much more likely to remember them in the future. Education/Value marketing has so many benefits for the long-term future of your business!

3. Collaboration: Can Help You Grow Your Business

Collaboration is a mostly non-digital strategy that can help you grow your business faster than anything else. It’s in fact tripled my business in the last few years. In working with someone who has a skill set that compliments your own, you can both give clients their best possible outcome. You do what you do best, your collaboration partner does what he or she does best, and the client wins out in the end.

Keeping these strategies in mind as you navigate a new year will help you to create a stronger marketing strategy for the year. Collaboration, education and referrals make up three of the most evergreen ways to build your business with very minimal financial outlay.
